5 interior colour schemes to complement sage green

Discover the magic of sage green and explore five popular pairings that will add personality to your home, from classic combinations to unexpected twists.

  1. Home office

In a home office, sage green pairs beautifully with soft wooden tones and whimsical pinks, promoting clarity and creativity. To enhance the space further, we introduced a geometric wallpaper in complementary colours, adding a touch of fun and seamlessly integrating it into the home environment.

2. Living room

Drawing inspiration from a painting, we've curated a cosy, inviting living room scheme. Rich burgundy and soft pink hues blend harmoniously, creating a warm, comforting atmosphere perfect for relaxation. It's a space where you can unwind and feel right at home amidst colours that wrap you in comfort and tranquillity.

3. Guest bathroom

We opted for a nostalgic and natural wallpaper from Designers Guild for this small downstairs bathroom. Its muted tones and botanical and animal motifs effortlessly bring the outdoors inside. To harmonize the green hues, we introduced a soft sage fabric for the blind, complementing the pink tongue-and-groove lower walls. Finally, a delicate delphinium blue evokes the sky, completing the tranquil vibe of the downstairs retreat.

4. Master bedroom

In the bedroom, textures reign supreme—a plush velvet quilted throw pairs effortlessly with frill-edged cushions, complemented by Roman blinds adorning the windows. Anchored by a serene sage green, this palette of warm colours welcomes you into the room, promising a peaceful night's sleep.

5. Boy’s bedroom

Sage green and olive green are the foundation of this 10-year-old boy's bedroom. We incorporated wood elements, including a headboard and acoustic wall panel, to enhance the soothing ambience and absorb sound. The natural texture of wood adds warmth and depth to the space. Off-white ceilings reflect light, while grey and yellow stripe curtains provide warmth and a vibrant touch of colour.

Colours that go well with sage green:

  1. Earth tones: Colours inspired by nature, such as warm browns, terracotta, and muted yellows, harmonise well with sage green, enhancing the natural and organic feel.

  2. Soft pinks: Blush or dusty pink tones create a gentle and elegant look when paired with sage green, adding a touch of femininity to the overall design.

  3. Lavender: The soft, muted shades of lavender complement sage green and add a touch of subtle contrast, creating a calming and soothing ambience.

  4. Mustard or ochre: These warm, golden-yellow tones contrast visually with sage green, adding vibrancy and energy to the space.

  5. Neutrals: Sage green works beautifully with other neutrals such as mushroom, ivory, and shades of grey. These combinations create a soft and calming ambience in a room.

When mixing colours, prioritise proportion and balance for the desired impact. Please pay attention to the lighting in the room, as it affects your perception of colour—test colour combinations in your space before committing to ensure perfect harmony.
